The critical audit report of the ACT Ambulance Service by the ACT Auditor General confirms the need to increase resources to the service, the TWU said today.
The Auditor General's report made significant recommendations: strengthen quality assurance procedures, and transparent reporting of clinical governance management.

TWU Official Ben Sweaney said "the Auditor General's report confirms what members have been saying for years.

“Officers have been calling for increased resources across the service for many years.

“Our members have always said that the government need to increase numbers across the service to better meet community demand for ambulance services.

While Canberra has grown significantly over the past decade the ambulance service has not kept pace.

“The government need to get serious, the ACT ambulance service it trying to do the work of a Minster with the resources of a backbencher.

“The government need to provide the service with adequate resources to better manage the pressures associated with running an ambulance service.

“The government need to act on the recommendations contained in the report and allocate more funds to the ambulance service”.
