Forty-five members attended last night’s Sydney Sub-branch meeting at St Marys Band Club. Sub-branch Secretary Bruce Penton opened the meeting with news on the union’s strong growth — 11 per cent this year! — and a rundown of recent successes from the Legal Unit.

State Secretary Wayne Forno then gave members a final gee-up for Sunday’s Safe Rates Convoy to Canberra, and an overview of the EBA bargaining process.
 
Senior Airport Official Mick Pieri gave a campaign update, and  detailed the emergence of a system — using committees and quick, determined action by members, delegates, organisers, and TWU HQ — to increase union involvement in, and influence on, managerial processes.
 
Bruce closed the meeting  echoing Wayne’s call to action for the Safe Rates Convoy to Canberra. This weekend will demonstrate how the Sub-branch’s hard work has paid off.
