DELEGATES CONFERENCE 2016

Our Union Our Future!

Over 500 TWU Delegates, Health and Safety Representatives (HSRs) and Activists from across NSW and the ACT attended Delegates Conference 2016 at Rooty Hill RSL on August 25th and 26th.

Delegates had the opportunity to meet with and train alongside industry peers with many sessions led by the delegates across our industries.

Delegates from a range of Majors Yards discussed the 2017 Majors bargaining round, and the TWU strength that determined the pay rises for all in the yards. Members are beginning to prepare for the big fight that is to come on Agreements. The strength of members makes our Union stronger.

Delegates also shared inspirational stories from their yards, including our current actions regarding Busways in Western Sydney and on the Central Coast.

Speakers included Luke Foley, NSW Opposition Leader; Daniel Mookhey MLC; Emma Husar, Federal Labor MP for Lindsay; Senator Sam Dastyari and Michelle Rowlands, Federal Labor MP for Greenway.

Conference is our opportunity to celebrate the hard work of delegates and plan for the year ahead. It is also a cornerstone event in our training and organising calendar. This year’s conference was a great success and we thank all who attended.
