The active members of the TWU Veterans Club welcomed three new members at their most recent meeting in February as John Hanley and Keith McGuckin joined Dave Lupton as new inductees. Dave Lupton, Ansett legend and TWU stalwart was unanimously elected in February as the TWU Veterans Secretary. Dave is pictured with fellow TWU Vet Ken Jones.
There was talk of a fix when Dave Lupton was unanimously elected Veterans Secretary at his first meeting but he was pleased to accept the honour and the responsibility of keeping the Veterans in contact and up-to-date with TWU activities and opportunities to help and stay involved. The Vets have decided to hold their meetings on a bi-monthly basis with the next one being on Monday 14th April at Cowper Sreet HQ.
All retired TWU members are invited to join the TWU Veterans, become active and help us keep the working conditions and rights you have fought for throughout your working lives. The TWU needs your experience fighting for the rights of working people right now, as our members come under attack due to IR changes and the destruction of our Safe Rates Tribunal by the Abbott government.
As a TWU Veteran you play a major role in rallies, media events and TWU actions.
Being in the TWU Vets is an excellent way to meet like minded people and stay connected with mates and the industry.
