The Transport Workers’ Union of NSW advises that proposed stop-work meetings on Wednesday 26 September are now postponed.
In an intense meeting held at the Fair Work Commission today, Busways has finally agreed that it should come to the table to properly negotiate an Enterprise Agreement.
TWU members have been ready to talk with Busways since late 2017. Busways was still unready as recently as last Thursday, when the company’s management attended the Fair Work Commission with nothing prepared. By contrast, TWU NSW’s entire bargaining team including five delegates attended, ready to negotiate.
Drivers were left wondering how it was that Busways was not ready, given the length of time this dispute has gone on and the amount of notice the company has had.
Stop-work meetings proposed for Thursday 27 September (6-9am and 2-5pm) are still on the table, dependant on the outcome of meetings on Wednesday 26 September.
