Busways drivers have cancelled planned industrial action that would have impacted Busways services for the Central Coast and Areas of Western Sydney on Wednesday 28 September 2016.

Driver representatives and Transport Workers’ Union NSW officials have met today with the management of Busways at the Parramatta offices of the Union for discussions.

Discussions have been put on hold over the important issue of the time taken for pre-operational safety checks of vehicles.

Drivers are seeking more time from the company at the start of their shifts to inspect vehicles before taking them out on the roads. This issue will be the subject of a vote by drivers in coming weeks.

Richard Olsen, Secretary of the Transport Workers’ Union said “TWU Members from two regions, the Central Coast and Western Sydney have successfully come together with common purpose, the safety and conditions for Busways drivers and the safety of other road users. We are continuing discussions with Busways and encourage them to think of the safety of their drivers. Drivers are an important part of their local community and the success of Busways operations”.
